The Best Places To Visit On Your Brazilian Vacation

As the largest country in South America, Brazil covers most of the continent’s northeastern region and borders all South American countries except Ecuador and Chile. Rio de Janeiro

Rio, as the city is affectionately called, is located in southeastern Brazil, and is the most visited city in South America. It is famous for its mountains, landmarks, beaches and Carnival festival. Located on one of the world’s largest harbors, Rio de Janeiro is surrounded by attractions that include the Sugarloaf and Corcovado mountains, as well as celebrated beaches including Copacabana and Ipanema.


An old city with beautiful beaches, Salvador is known for its lively culture and one of the world’s biggest Carnival celebrations.


Brasilia is the capital city, and is located in the Brazilian Highlands.  Brasilia Cathedral with its glass roof that bear a resemblance to hands reaching up to heaven is a must see when visiting Brasilia. The city is designed in the shape of an airplane in which each of its sections serve as different districts including government, commercial, residential and cultural.


Olinda is located on the Atlantic Coast in the northeastern state of Pernambuco, and is one of Brazil’s most famous colonial cities. Olinda’s Carnival celebration features the music, dances and traditions of African cultures, and is best attended during daytime.

Sao Paulo 

Sao Paulo, an ethnically diverse city, is the largest city in Brazil, and is located in southeastern Brazil.  The city is known for its beautiful skyscrapers, jungle, public parks, and rainforest.


Known as the “Venice of Brazil”, Recife is the capital of the Pernambuco state and one of the largest and most important cities on Brazil’s northeastern coast.  Its beaches are some of the best in Brazil.


Fortaleza is known for its beaches, shopping and vibrant culture. Some of its famous and beautiful beaches are Praia do Futuro, Meireles, Iracema, and Mucuripe.

Foz do Iguacu

A natural wonder, Iguazu Falls, a series of magnificent waterfalls, is located on the Iguazu River along the border with Argentina.


Manaus is the gateway to the Amazon rainforest, and is the capital of the Amazonas state in northwestern Brazil. The city is home to Rio Negro Palace, and the Amazonas Opera House.


Parati is a popular tourist attraction along Brazil’s Green Coast in the Rio de Janeiro state.  It is a utopia of tropical forests, waterfalls, emerald sea, and coastal mountains.
